We keep our Events Calendar updated with the best of what's happening nearby — including the Taneytown Farmers Market running every Saturday morning through November, live piano nights at Antrim 1844, and exciting events over in Gettysburg all summer long. Before you book your stay, take a peek at what's on — you just might find the perfect reason to visit sooner than you planned.

Each Spring, the local calendar is packed with festivals that celebrate the best of our region’s viticulture.

The Best of Both Worlds: Taneytown & Gettysburg

One of the best things about a stay at Georges on York is our location. While we love the quiet pace of Taneytown, we are just 15 minutes south of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

Spring is a wonderful time to visit Gettysburg National Military Park. You can tour the battlefields and historic sites before the summer humidity and peak crowds arrive. Many of our guests enjoy spending a morning immersed in history at the park, then retreating to our porch in the afternoon to relax with a cool drink away from the tourist bustle.

Your "Perfect Spring Saturday" Itinerary

Not sure how to spend your weekend? Let us do the planning for you. Here is how a typical Spring Saturday looks for our guests:

  • 9:00 AM: Start your day with a multi-course, gourmet breakfast in our sun-drenched dining room.

  • 11:00 AM: Take a short walk down York Street to the Taneytown Wine, Art & Music Festival. Browse handmade jewelry and art while sampling local Chardonnays and Cabernets.

  • 2:00 PM: Pop into the local antique shops on Main Street or take a 10-minute drive to the expansive antique malls just outside of town.

  • 4:00 PM: Head back to the Inn for a quiet afternoon or to read a book in our elegant common areas or private patio.

  • 6:30 PM: Take a short stroll (just four blocks!) to Antrim 1844 for a world-class dinner or craft cocktails and live piano music in their lounge.

  • 9:00 PM: Return to the comfort of your room at Georges on York for the best night's sleep you've had all year.

Don't Forget the Strawberries!

If you are visiting us during the early weeks of June, you’re in for a treat. The Annual Old-Fashioned Strawberry Festival is a classic Maryland tradition featuring local berries, crafts, and community spirit - the perfect way to cap off your Spring travels.

And, check out the area's best farmstand -- Baugher's Fruit Market & Bakery -- where you can pick your own (whatever is in season) or pick up some fresh picked fruits and veggies from their market.
